This all original pickup truck is a beautiful representation of the period and one of the earliest 1/2 ton pickups ever made. So much history comes from these early vehicles and even though so many were produced, they really are still incredible to see still driving around. Try to imagine that camry on the street driving around in 100 years!
The Model A was designed to phase out the Model T and TT, and work started on it's design in 1926. Contract body manufacturers Briggs and Murray were used to help accelerate the body design and mechanical work. Similar to the T and TT models, the A and AA models shared many parts including the body, engine and interior. The AA however, wore less niceties on the interior than its sister vehicle.
This truck is powered by a 201cu In - 3.3L I4 engine that was shared between the truck and car versions, which produced up to 40HP at 2200 rpm. The main difference between the truck and car version was in the chassis where they increased its size and weight to ensure it could handle anything thrown in the back. Up front also featured an up-draft carburetor, 6V generator and a 2/4 blade fan. Fluids are kept moving by a water pump, oil pump and the electric starter. A radiator was a new addition to this model from the previous and was the start of almost all modern vehicles sporting one!
One of the cool things on these early Fords was that you could stick a hand crank through the hole in the radiator shell to crank the engine if the starter was not working.
The durability of these vehicles is incredible and you can even find some of them still in use across the world, almost a century later. As one of the early vehicles that arguably defined the future of automotive, this historical art piece has been a big crowd pleaser.
