Bought Ginya (“Silver Arrow” in Japanese) in 1990 when I was flying for the U.S. Navy, and continue to drive her heavily in vintage-car rallies and on the amazing backroads of the San Francisco Bay region.
She's a one-driver car—every one of her more than 354,600 miles has been put on her by me over the past 31 years.
Although still naturally aspirated, Ginya is on the "spicer side of mild" and has been rebuilt and upgraded, with an eye to “spirited driving” and an “aviation esthetic.”
Modifications include a race-built engine and head, just about every NA brace sold by Flyin' Miata, and many interior upgrades.
Ginya is also one of the first MX-5s to be registered as a Historical Vehicle in California. More images on Instagram (@ginya91mx5).
