There’s perhaps no sight more beautiful as you open the garage door to find your very own Lamborghini Aventador S sitting there waiting for you. There might be no better combination of beauty, power and elegance all wrapped into one automotive package. It comes in stunning flame red, with full LED lights, 20” rims and an overall look that exudes power.
The 2018 Aventador S is part of a longer line of Aventador models stretching back to 2011. The S first erupted onto the scene in 2016, delivering some pretty awesome upgrades. The sleek, gorgeous exterior design is pure Lamborghini. It has some interesting design elements like a reworked front splitter, new air intakes and a black rear diffuser with fins. What the Aventador is, to me at least, is the real romantic side of Lamborghini. The Huracan flagship model is all business, but the Aventador S is pure art on wheels. It’s extravagant, surprisingly comfortable, fun to drive and is sure to turn heads wherever it goes.
Under the hood, you’ll find a rather fantastic 6.5L V12 engine delivering 730hp and 509lb-ft of torque. It takes you from 0 to 60 in an eye-watering 3.2 seconds. It’s a tiny bit slower than the coupe version, but that’s because the roadster comes with additional chassis reinforcement --- another great feature.
You can feel the raw power with every move, but the Aventador is also well engineered and great for road or track driving. I mean, if you want pure track performance, then the Aventador SVJ model is truer to form, but the S holds its own with high-performance Pirelli tires, additional rear-steering system, a top-notch stability control program and more.
The real hidden gem within the Aventador S is the upgraded magnetorheological shocks, making a ride on wheels even as big as 20” comfortable and seamless. Speaking of the forged wheels, the unique lotus flower-like spoke design is eye-catching to the point of becoming hypnotic!
Step inside the Aventador and you find sporting elegance that is frankly unmatched. As I take my seat in the supportive and fully-electric heated seat, I feel like I’m in my own world. The sloping central control stack makes life much easier when you want to switch drive modes, check out the central infotainment screen or alter any other aspect of the interior. It’s an ergonomic masterpiece.
The entire dash display, instrument cluster, steering wheel and fine sporty detailing of the interior create an atmosphere truly like no other car I’ve experienced. The Aventador S is in a league of its own for artistry.
Remove the roof panels and experience this car as it was mean to be, with the sky above and the road beneath. It’s a work of art packed with thrills and fantastic tech that will give you the ride of your life.
