Two-tone red and white matching numbers classic corvette in great shape.
This example of the classic C1 generation of corvettes is still stunning to view and even more fun to drive. A great addition to any garage with classics or to add some history to an otherwise new collection. This 1961 Chevrolet Corvette has had one owner for the last 15 years. The car has been consistently maintained throughout, with receipts from the last 10 years of service. This vehicle features the AM radio, heater, whitewall tires and a convertible soft-top with an auxiliary hard top option. The internals are a numbers matching set across the fuel injection, engine and frame.
The red interior matches the exterior two-tone Roman red and Ermine white and is complemented by the white of the convertible soft-top. This was the last year the two-tone was available until later in 1978. The top material is still in good condition, with only typical creases here and there but the material fully intact. The white provides a nice accent to the body's red and sits on chrome A pillars that are also in good shape and don't have signs of wear across the windshield. ### Interior The leather seats come in the same red as the other interior components and while not perfect, do not have visible rips or tears throughout. Some coloring of the passenger seat can be seen. The red and black mixed carpet shag does a good job of masking any potential stains or discoloration. It's currently is good shape and there are no noticeable problems.
The 283 CI / 315 HP engine is paired with a 4 Speed manual transmission, fueled by the factory Rochester fuel injection. The newly added fuel-injection system increased the power to the quoted 315 HP while maintaining the same displacement as previous models. Braking comes from drum brakes down below. The front engine compartment still holds the original engine in an unfettered condition. Aging and some coloring across some of the mounts can be seen and some mechanisms show signs of rusting. The shifting comes smoothly with the corvette manual and the car starts right up on key turns, sparking the throaty V8 sounds.
The large white wall tires are true to the original styling but have some aging on them. This was the last year the wide whites were used and the '62 model featured similar chrome rims but with thin white striped wheels.
